Spiders

From tunnels & subways
on weekend nights they come
crisscrossing the street
from bar to bar.

In black leather
some lean against cars
others straddle bikes
their engines revving.

Long lines of them
block the sidewalk
with boomboxes
bursting.

One of them always strays
below my window.
Slowly, the invisible thread
of my thought binds him.

down
I step on his back

Des tunnels et des métros
en fin de semaine
ils sortent la nuit

certains adossés à des voitures
d’autres chevauchent des bécanes
moteurs en marche.

De longues queues
bloquent le trottoir
leurs radios
à plein tube.

L’un d’eux s’égare toujours
sous ma fenêtre.
Lentement, le fil invisible
de ma pensée l’attache.

Sans regarder
en bas
je marche sur son dos
et l’entends craquer.
